The picture of the garden above was taken by my son Robin:
A. On his recent trip to Thailand to visit his Uncle Brian.
B. At the Washington D.C. “Cherry Blossom Festival”.
C. In the Japanese Garden he made in my backyard.
If you guessed “C”, you are correct. And this is just one of many pictures I plan to Post about the joys of living on a hill in a cozy cottage in Cambridge, NY, in the Spring!
Change of topic.
This morning my husband, Ray, and I went to Aldi’s in nearby Bennington, Vermont. They have a cart system whereby you put your quarter in a cart to detach it from the other carts. Then when you return your cart, you get somebody else’s quarter in return. As my husband drove us home, I fingered the quarter in my hand wondering, “Whose quarter was this? What kind of a day are they having? Who got my quarter? Where will it wind up? One could write a story about “The Quarter”.
I remember seeing a film about a Rented Tuxedo. It told the stories of 3 different men who rented the same tuxedo. I just told my husband and daughter my idea about a story called “The Quarter”. My husband thinks I’ve lost my mind. My daughter said, “Mom you could write a story about anything”. I decided to take that as a compliment.
Musing # 3: “The Other Woman”
No, my husband is not having an affair ( I’m pretty sure of that).
Last week at this time, I had a biopsy of my right breast. On the same day, I was given a card to report back for a follow-up visit on Wed. 4/18 at 10 AM. This tuesday, I got a call from The Women’s Health Center canceling that appointment. It turns out the results of my biopsy are:
“Negative for Malignancy. Consistent with Benign Simple Cyst”. After a day of self-centered and completely understandable relief and joy, today I thought about “The Other Woman”. The one who got the bad news that I was so happy not to get. Who is she? How old is she? What is her story? I saw her in that Radiologist’s office keeping her follow-up appointment, trying to absorb the word “Malignant”, and being told what her options are. I pray for her whoever she is.
